His presentation covered the theoretical understanding of Project Management as well as how that translated to real life experience in the building of major ports, infrastructure, construction and development projects in Singapore.

The event was organized by Alleem Knowledge Center (AKC), It was an exclusive whole-day event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel Sharjah. Some of the other speakers included Ashok Gupta, CEO of Bank of Baroda; V.K. Kumar, CEO of Certification Engineers International Ltd in India; and Narasimha Rao, Senior Fellow of The Energy and Resources Institute of Bangalore in India.

This was a green-field development involving extensive sea-bed dredging and reclamation works. Construction commenced in 1994. In all, 14 container berths totalling nearly 8.8km length, were completed in 2009. The cost of the developing and construction reached S$7.2 billion.

In this multi-year development project, many professional disciplines were involved, including civil engineering for the seabed dredging, reclamation and wharf construction (using concrete caissons), mechanical & electrical engineering for the procurement and installation of equipment, occupational health and safety experts for workplace safety and security, communications and logistics.

The key challenge faced was to manage the project's financial, human and material resources effectively in order to complete the project on time and within budget.
